Congratulations to BIRDS project for winning the AIRBUS GEDC 2017 Award
“The GEDC Airbus Diversity Award aims to shine a light on successful projects which have encouraged more young people of all profiles and backgrounds to study and succeed in engineering. The award was developed and funded by Airbus in partnership with the GEDC, the leading international organisation for leaders of schools and colleges of engineering education. For this fifth anniversary edition, the award has been placed under UNESCO patronage.” – Airbus.
The BIRDS project was represented by Tejumola Taiwo, Project Manager of BIRDS-1 project.

The contents of this issue are:
1. Yeshey gives a public talk on “Bhutan in Space” at Kyutech Library
2. The first general paper about the BIRDS Project goes back to November of 2015
3. JSPS funding for 3 years of BIRDS International Workshops
As a result of the CDR held from 18th – 19th July, 2017, some design changes were identified.
The team is currently in the process of reviewing those changes and implementing them in the 2nd Engineering Model (EM2).
The 2nd CDR is scheduled for 10th October, 2017 whereby the EM2 will be presented to faculty and other students for review.
Today marks the official opening of BIRDS-2 website.
The main objective of maintaining a website is to disseminate all important information related to the project. It is also to promote BIRDS-2 project and help in outreach activities of the project.
This website will publish events surrounding BIRDS-2 project, the team and their activities. The entire process of BIRDS-2 CubeSat design, development, testing, launch, deployment and operation will be shared with the general public through the website.
